loosing Spring declarative transaction management — use pure Hibernate without the Spring data JPA inside a Spring project. Tension: Benefits from my perspective are more fine grained control over Hibernate batching, as well as transactions. Outcome: it's totally fine to use plain Hibernate without Spring Data JPA, especially if you want more control.
