the first snippet, you're configuring the asp.net jwt auth middleware — the second snippet, you're creating & signing bearer tokens. Tension: whos job is to validate incoming bearer tokens and construct a claims principal. Outcome: you're basically signing tokens with one secret and trying to validate incoming tokens with a different secret.

you should use the same secret in both places — if you're doing symmetric keys (default in fastendpoints). Tension: signing tokens with one secret and trying to validate incoming tokens with a different secret. Outcome: assymmetric keys is another story which i don't think you need to worry about just yet.
