GNU wget 1.19 with --xattr persists HTTP Basic-auth credentials embedded in URLs (http://user:password@host/path) into POSIX extended attributes on the downloaded file. The url field u->url is built via url_string(u, URL_AUTH_SHOW), so it carries the userinfo. set_file_metadata() in src/xattr.c writes that string verbatim to user.xdg.origin.url (and user.xdg.referrer.url) via fsetxattr. Extended attributes follow the file's read permissions, so any local user who can read the file (or anyone who receives a backup/copy) can call getfattr and recover the username and password. Classified as an information-leak.
