In wget's src/ftp-ls.c, ftp_parse_vms_ls() uses a fixed 32-byte stack buffer date_str[32] to accumulate date and time tokens parsed from server-controlled FTP LIST output. date_str is initially filled with snprintf(date_str, sizeof(date_str), "%s ", tok) for a date token, and later updated with strncat(date_str, tok, (sizeof(date_str)-strlen(date_str)-1)). The code paths depend on token classification and do not robustly re-validate that the intermediate buffer always remains NUL-terminated and that strlen(date_str) is within bounds before the subsequent strncat size computation, creating a plausible stack-based overwrite/overflow risk under malformed or oversized tokens.

Use a safer pattern: always set date_str[0]='\0' before accumulation; replace strncat with snprintf into the remaining space (or explicit memcpy with bound checks). After snprintf, verify return value < remaining space and ensure date_str is NUL-terminated. Alternatively, compute remaining = sizeof(date_str) - strlen(date_str) - 1 only after confirming strlen(date_str) < sizeof(date_str).
