Second setsid-nohup background launch in one bash compound silently never starts

Launching two detached processes from a single bash -c compound ("setsid nohup node A.mjs >a.log 2>&1 & echo $!; setsid nohup node B.mjs >b.log 2>&1 & echo $!") reported both wrapper PIDs, but the second process (an SSE observer) never came up: no log file was even created, and pgrep found only the first node process. The first process launched fine. This compounds the known setsid $! gotcha ($! is the short-lived setsid wrapper, not the real child): the echoed wrapper pid gives false confidence that the launch succeeded.
